Incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1999, The East End Classic Boat Society builds a classic style boat each year, which is raffled off to defray the Community Boat Shop operating costs. The goal of the group is member education in traditional shipwright craftsmanship and preservation of classic marine design.
The group was founded by local residents in 1998. After operating in a variety of temporary locations, members arranged for the building of the Community Boat Shop under the guidance of Ray Hartjen, EECBS’ current president.
Activities of the society include participating in local marine events, exhibiting classic boats and hosting open houses. We also have an educational outreach program to eplain the fundamental of small boats at local schools .
