A Boat Builder’s Daughter Wins The Boat Builders’ Boat
A Springs woman, who grew up watching her father building wooden boats in the family’s basement, is this year’s winner of the East End Classic Boat Society’s raffle boat- a 12-foot Catspaw sailing dinghy.
“I appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that go into wooden boat building,” said a joyful sounding Colleen DeBaise, 49, who lives with her husband Frank Guittard and twin 4-year-old girls Allie and Georgie who attend Springs School’s pre-K program.
She grew up in Syracuse and the sailed her dad’s 18-foot craft on the St. Lawrence River by the family camp home in Alexandria.
DeBaise, works mostly from home as executive editor of The Story Exchange for Women Entrepreneurs. Her husband is an architect with Stelle Lomont Rouhani in Bridgehampton.
