The EECBS student outreach program, that teaches kids simple boating terminology and helps them craft basic boat models, is gearing up to give instruction in four different school districts this year.
Starting first in the Amagansett School, the program has now expanded to include teaching in Montauk, Sag Harbor and Springs schools as well. Youngsters are given a talks on boat nomenclature by Stuart Close with dozens of boat club volunteers assisting him help the kids build sailboat models.
In its four years of operation the program has taught hundreds of kids in grades two through four who graduate the program by sailing their model boats in wading pools that EECBS provide
